Rewards offered in two unsolved murder cases

By JAMIE PATTERSON,
The investigations in two of Yazoo City’s unsolved murders remain open with a cash reward now being offered for any information that could lead to arrests in the 2016 cases.
Crime Stoppers is offering $2,000 for any information in the death of Deangelo Gant Brown and Alford Coleman, two men who were murdered within the city last year.
Brown was discovered shot in the parking lot of the Plaza Cinema movie theater on Feb. 6, 2016. Coleman was stabbed to death on May 30, 2016 in Magnolia Apartments.
Chief Andre Lloyd said his department has not received any leads in the Coleman case.
“But we have had some people of interest in the Brown murder,” he said. “We are just trying to gather enough evidence and information to wrap that case up.”
Lloyd said the cases have always remained open. But he would like to bring them back to the public’s attention.
“We don’t want any cases to go unsolved in Yazoo City,” Lloyd said. “We want justice and closure for the families. These cases not only hurt the families but the whole city. We want to make it right.”
All the information given will be anonymous, and no name is needed for the shared information.
