Can anyone help save this gym?

Dear Editor,
I have tried to get the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Yazoo to work with the superintendent of the Yazoo City Public School District to replace the roof on the gym at the Yazoo Community Complex on Canal Street (the old high school).
My efforts have been unsuccessful. The city and the school district have not tried.
So I want to appeal to the alumni of the Yazoo City High School to see if there is an alumnus or a group of alumni (or friends) with some deep pockets that would like to contact the city school superintendent to see if a financial arrangement can be worked out so that the gym roof can be replaced.
It would be nice if the whole gym could be restored. If something isn’t done, we are going to lose the whole gym.
I am sure that Dr. Darrin Edwards, the city school superintendent would like to hear from you. His number is 662-746-2125. He has asked me who is going to pay for the roof replacement.
If you have any questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Yours truly,
Wallace Russell
