Two former Yazoo City High School star athletes return home to provide life lessons in the classroom and on the gridiron.

After a fun summer break, Yazoo County students returned to school this week. Even on the first day of school, these Bentonia Gibbs students were already hitting the books and making new friends.

The Ricky Saxton family has been able to show love, assist several families and offer support within the community thanks to the annual benefit held in his memory.











Audrey Billingslea Pepper

Audrey Billingslea Pepper, 93, of Benton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at home.

Funeral services were Thursday June 7 at the Culpepper Funeral Home in Canton with Roger Richardson officiating. Burial was at Concord Cemetery in Pickens.



Margaret Allen

Margaret Janean Allen, 78, of Yazoo City passed away Friday June 15, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral services were Monday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Lynch officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.


John Kelly Moore

John Kelly Moore of Vaughan returned to his Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, where he had been receiving care from Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.

One of his favorite sayings was “I'm all right”. How very true that is with the Lord as he is now perfect and whole.
