Two former Yazoo City High School star athletes return home to provide life lessons in the classroom and on the gridiron.

After a fun summer break, Yazoo County students returned to school this week. Even on the first day of school, these Bentonia Gibbs students were already hitting the books and making new friends.

Betty Earl Burleson, 80, of Yazoo City passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at The Mississippi Baptist Memorial Medical Center in Jackson.


Mary Lee Baker

Mary Lee Baker, 75, died July 29, 2018 at Yazoo Health & Rehabilitation.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Baker was born August 8, 1942 to William and Janie Williams Landrum. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.



Kathy Lowry

Kathy Lowry, 65, of Holly Bluff passed away at her residence in Sharkey County Monday August 7, 2018. A Truck Driver, she was a Veteran of The U. S. Marine Corp and of the Baptist Faith.





Mary Lee Corley

Mary Lee Corley, 98, of Yazoo City passed away peacefully Monday, July 30, 2018 in Yazoo City.

Funeral services were July 31 at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Lewis Kalil officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
