Tyler Davis, a junior at the Mississippi School of the Arts from Bentonia, received a Gold Key in the prestigious Regional Scholastic Creative Writing Competition.

Manchester Academy students Colby Allen Stevens and Cameron Robinson recently served as pages for the Mississippi Senate. Pages generally run errands for officials and senate staff. They were sponsored by State Sen. Buck Clarke.

Benton Academy hosted a Grandparents Day celebration last week where grandparents of students were treated to a musical performance by elementary and kindergarten students.

Funeral services are Jan. 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Scotland Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Allen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home. 

Mary Cornelia Hurdle Pepper

Mary Cornelia Hurdle Pepper went to her heavenly home Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 4:10 p.m. at her home in Vaughan. 
She was under the care of StaHome Hospice since November 2017, after a 2 1/2 year battle with appendix/ ovarian cancer.  

Thomas Richard Chaney

Thomas Richard Chaney, 59, of Yazoo City passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his residence. 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel.
