The fire on Old Benton Road that forced firefighters and other emergency responders to work around the clock to contain is now 100 percent contained.  The blaze began with a house fire and quickly spread into the surrounding woods.

Update: At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Yazoo County Emergency Management Director Jack Willingham said the fire is under control, and the current priority is ensuring that is doesn't flare up again.

The Yazoo Elite 10u basketball team recently competed in the City of Jackson's Spring Basketball league, finishing with a 7-2 record.

Chester Woodford “Woody” Humphries passed away peacefully on March 20, 2017.  A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at St. John’s United Methodist Church following visitation at 9:30 in the church fellowship hall.
